The Charm of Jazz Music
Jazz Pianist Philippe Leoge came for a salon activity
In the afternoon of May 11th, Philippe Leoge, a famous French jazz pianist, came to our school to hold the campus art salon with the students of the Arts Department. Mr. Philippe Leoge studied piano at the age of six. During his forty-five years of playing, he was the leader of the band, the music director and the chief piano, and founded the art festival. He held a series of piano solos in Norway, Sweden, Germany, the United States, China, Korea and France. And many records were made. In 2014, My French standards songbook he arranged was awarded among the 25th best Jazz CD by French magazines.
At the scene, in addition to professional guidance for our art students in piano playing, Mr. Leoge also expounded the charm of jazz piano, which is radical, avant-garde, breakthrough and creation. The jazz piano music has broken a relatively regular rhythm because of the change of rhythm. The rhythm can be changed at will, which brings the feeling of "swing" and "change". Afterwards, he presented our students his two selected French folk songs, " La vie en rose ", "take the A train", and two Chinese folk songs " Liuyang River" ," Picking Tea-leaves and Capturing Butterflies ". His skillful playing skills, emotional understanding and the familiar music made the students and teachers completely moved and gained a lot of applause and cheers.
