Professor Soyoun Bae from YCCECE Visited our School
Bathed in the gentle breeze of early summer on 13th June, our school received the visit from Professor Soyoun Bae, Dean of Studies of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) and President of Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association (PECERA), and Ms. Sophie Xu, Head of Mainland Affairs Office of YCCECE.
After many rounds of discussion, we have signed a friendly cooperation agreement with YCCECE at the beginning of this year. In order to promote further academic exchanges and establish stronger partnership, we invited Professor Soyoun Bae to deliver this academic lecture which entitled ‘ Evidence based early childhood education: Foundations and guidelines’.
As Dean of Studies of YCCECE and President of Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association (PECERA), Professor Soyoun Bae has given lectures on Chinese Early Education Summit for many times, mainly focusing on the development trend and innovation achievements of integrated education of children aging 0 to 6.
This time, by adopting a great deal of statistics, pictures, videos and live games and by answering questions from the audience, Professor Bae conveyed the theory that the best way for infants to learn is to be in contact with the diversified and interconnected real life with initiatives. The above should be kept in mind while educating children so as to enable them to acquire experience and knowledge in their own way of cognition. Once children reach a comprehensive understanding towards real life and knowledge, they’ve got a solid foundation for building their future thinking patterns and for perceiving new things.
The lecture was attended by 250 people, involving teachers from specialized and fundamental disciplines, teachers from our affiliated preschools, and students from Preschool Pedagogy Ⅰ and Ⅱ. There’re also some attendees (leaders from other kindergartens) who came here especially.
The pioneering visit was also attended by Ms. Lv Hong, vice principal of our school. Ms. Lv warmly welcomed the guests from afar and introduced our school history, school management theory, features of school majors, and curriculum setup. Both parties shared strong hope and willingness to strengthen exchange and understanding so as to work together for a bright future, thereafter a campus tour was enjoyed under the company of Director Cai Hong Yu from International Exchange Division.
